Ethical Concerns and Moral Science Considerations in Anger Management and Domestic Violence Counseling
Most ethics classes are frankly boring. Not this one. Here Dr. Ronald Potter-Efron discusses important ethical issues with five anger management and domestic violence counselors, utilizing small group discussions, case studies, and "what would you do in this situation?" scenarios to keep things interesting. Five ethical schools of thinking are described and related to relevant topics in anger management and domestic violence: deontology, utilitarianism, the ethics of care, natural law and virtue ethics. Specific consideration is given to the relationship between counselors and the judicial system. In addition, Dr. Potter-Efron reviews recent neuroscience research findings that describe how people actually make ethical decisions in real time.

Note: This ethics class has been approved by the National Association for Six continuing education hours (#886531153-1175).
